The type of culture that Mongrel FX strives to emulate is one from the Open Source community. In the past several years of researching technologies that can make this vision of opening a animation production studio in NY a reality, I have come across a very open and giving community of artists and developers surrounding the application for which these user groups were formed.
This application is Blender. As many of you may know by now, Blender is a free open source 3D modeling and animation package that rivals some of the “industry standard” applications being used out there in terms of features, speed and capabilities. It is the tool of choice for Mongrel FX.
